The GSTU Science Club originated in 2019, when a group of enthusiastic students at the then-Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Science and Technology University (BSMRSTU) identified a significant lack of extracurricular scientific engagement on campus. It was initially established as the BSMRSTU Science and Research Club with the vision of bridging the gap between theoretical learning and practical application. The founders aimed to create a non-profit, non-political, government-registered platform that would nurture scientific curiosity, encourage interdisciplinary research, and promote rational thinking to help reduce superstition within the local Gopalganj community.
Over time, the club evolved in identity and structure, later becoming the BSMRSTU Science Club, strengthening its position as a leading student-led scientific organization on campus. In 2023, the club achieved accreditation from the National Museum of Science and Technology Bangladesh, marking an important recognition of its activities and credibility. Following the university’s transition to Gopalganj Science and Technology University (GSTU) in 2025, the club adopted its current name, reflecting a new era of growth and ambition aligned with the university’s broader academic and scientific vision.
Since its official establishment on June 28, the club has grown from a small student initiative into a dynamic center of innovation and collaboration. It has organized major events such as the 2nd GSTU National Science Fest (HALOGEN) in 2025, which attracted participants from across the country. Through workshops, research training, and achievements including the Youth Innovation Fund (2025), the club has established itself as a key platform for skill development and academic networking. Today, the GSTU Science Club stands as an active and influential organization within the student community, continuously promoting curiosity, research culture, and innovation.
